Aside from working with awesome costumers and creating amazing relationships with them, the best thing about working with flowers is being able to visit the farms. We are so lucky to be just 45 minutes away from them. Sometimes Ralph needs to discuss new varieties or mix boxes so while he is negotiating new things for our customers, we get the chance to see the farm and the entire process that it takes to send you that bunch of roses.
The last time we had the opportunity to visit one of our farms, we went to one that specializes on carnations, Gypso and soon will have many distinct products like Delphinium, Sunflowers and Cremons. We were able to see the harvest and post-harvest.
They have specialized farmers that take the time to work on each stem and know when it is ready to be cut and hydrated.
Then comes the post-harvest, where the flowers are packed and measured. Finally, they go to the process of hydration so then, they can be pack in a box and shipped to the airport. The process may seem simple, but it takes hundreds of people in tens of hectares, so next time you get one of our mix boxes or the exclusive variety you need for that weeding, don’t forget to think about them. And enjoy the flowers!
